Skeeter has been building boats since 1948, and its owners rate it among the best in the business. For years, we’ve built hard-top frames, T-tops and swim platforms for Skeeter in our Englewood, Florida shop, and shipped them to Skeeter’s factory in Texas.
Holmes Thurmond built the first Skeeter in 1948, a boat credited as the first ever designed for bass fishing. Skeeter was among the first builders to use fiberglass, in the 1950s.
Skeeter has earned the boating industry’s Customer Satisfaction Index award, which goes only to builders rated 90% or higher by their new-boat buyers, every year the award has been given: more than 20 years running.
Skeeter was among the first builders to see what a bay boat could be, in the early 1990s. Skeeter builds its boats in Kilgore, Texas, and has been part of Yamaha since 1996.
Our hard-top frames, T-tops and swim platforms are built here in Englewood and shipped to Skeeter’s factory in Kilgore, Texas, for its new boats. Skeeter’s own website names them: its bay boats offer the Omni Economy and Deluxe T-tops, the Omni Hard Top and the Omni swim platform, and the Omni Hard-Top comes standard on the SX2550 Family. Ingman Marine, a Skeeter dealer, lists Omni Economy and Deluxe T-tops, the Omni hard T-top and the Omni swim platform, and Sport Fishing magazine’s Boat Buyers Guide noted that the Skeeter SX2550 Family “comes standard with a two-tone Omni hardtop,” along with an Omni swim platform.

If there’s an Omni decal on your top, it came from our shop, and we can take care of it. Michael L., a Skeeter owner, wrote in his Google review that the powder coating on his swim platform, leaning post and T-top had problems his warranty didn’t cover. He saw the Omni decal on the top and called us. We told him to bring it down, and we made it right.
We fit and refit tops on any boat, older Skeeters included. We can make new canvas for your top, redo powder coating, add rod holders, lights or a swim ladder, and handle cushions, upholstery and fiberglass repair, all in one place.
★★★★★“Without hesitation, he said bring it down and we will make it right. I just picked my boat up and it looks as good as new.”— Michael L. · Skeeter 240SX · Google review
