These are the things boat owners ask about most when they compare builders. Some you’ll know already; a few are easy to miss until the top is on the boat. See how we build it →
A top or tower takes a beating in a chop. How it is mounted to your console and deck matters as much as how it looks: a good one feels solid underway and doesn’t rattle, flex or stress the boat.
Where a part has to take real force, we back it with a plate under the deck so the load is spread out, not resting on the fiberglass alone. For example, a folding footrest is backed this way so it’s strong enough to stand on.
Think about how much shade you want and where, headroom at the helm, room to walk around the console, where the rods go, and whether you can reach your electronics.
We go over the design and the cost with you before anything is built, including the rod holder layout, top size and finish. If you already have a leaning post, livewell or tackle center, we build the top to work with them.

Look closely at the joints. Clean, even welds and bends that follow the lines of the boat are the mark of a builder who takes care with everything you can’t see, too.
Every top and tower is welded here in our Englewood shop. One customer’s boat dealer sent him to us for exactly this reason (his story is below).

Powder coating gives you a color, like black or white, and protects the metal. Bare or polished aluminum has its own look and upkeep. Salt water is hard on both, so preparation matters.
We powder coat for a finish that lasts, in any color you want: match your hull, match your trim, or pick something all your own.

An electronics box, lights, speakers and antennas are easier to plan in from the start, along with a clean path for the wires.
We build in electronics boxes, rod holders, rocket launchers, lights and speakers, and run the wiring inside the tubing so it’s protected and out of sight.

Every boat is different, so a custom top is priced for your boat. It helps to know up front what the quote includes and how long the boat will be away.
You get the design and the cost before anything is built. Most work is done with the boat here at our shop.

When this owner bought his first boat, he didn’t like the tops the manufacturer offered. He asked his dealer who could build a custom one, and the dealer sent him to Omni, specifically for the quality of the work and the welding.
He worked with Joey, who listened to what he needed, made some suggestions, then designed and built the top with all of his rod holders, fitted to the custom leaning post, livewell and tackle center he’d had built separately.
He was so happy with the top that he came back for a folding bench on the back of his leaning post and a folding footrest for the captain’s bench.
